Crocodile River Lodge is situated in the Marloth Park conservancy area. That means there are a number of restrictions placed on both residents and guests:
Collecting of firewood from the veld
It is an offence to collect firewood from the veld to use on the fire or barbecue. Firewood may be purchased from either of the two stores - The Trading Post or The Bush Centre. These stores are just three kilometers from the lodge on tar road.Fire
Please do not start any fires except in the area provided. Fire is the greatest threat to the African bushveld and willdestroy both vegetation and wildlife. Remember most of the houses in the area have thatched roofs.
Destruction of vegetation
Please do not break any branches on the surrounding trees or shrubs.Removal of Plants
Do not remove any plants from the area.
Wild Animals
Wild animals will meander through the Lodge grounds during the day and night. Please do not attempt to catch them and please do not chase them. This is their area and we are privileged to be able to share it with them.
Walking in the area
Do not walk around the area between dusk and dawn. We know that sometimes lion move between the Kruger National Park (to the North) and the Lion Spruit game reserve (to the South). We do not know when and where they stop en route or for how long. There are also leopards resident in the area. Under normal circumstances during the day neither will attack man, unless there is something wrong with them. Do not take any chances. In the event that you come across any of the large cats during your daytime walk, move away from them without panic and report their presence to the local Game Ranger.No Smoking
The lodge and surrounding area is a no smoking area.
Speed Limits
The speed limits within Marloth Park are as follows:
Tar road 50kph and gravel roads 40kph
