The Crocodile River is one of the main rivers in the Mpumalanga district. It rises in the Roodewal area in the northern Drakensberg in the west and runs east to join the Komati River before entering the Indian Ocean. In doing so it forms the southern boundary of the Kruger National Park before crossing the Mozambique border near Komatipoort.
Our lodge is situated several hundred metres south of the Crocodile River in the Marloth Park conservancy area. Built in a typically South African rustic style the lodge offers a cool retreat from the hot African sun.
Crocodile River Lodge was purchased by the owners as a retreat and is hired out for use as a self catering facility.
The lodge is fully equipped and all that guests need to bring is their clothes, food, drink and firewood.
At Crocodile River Lodge many of the wild animals living in the conservancy visit the immediate surroundings daily. Warthog, impala, kudu, wildebeest, duiker, zebra, giraffe and mongoose are all regular visitors to the waterhole.
The bird life in the Marloth Park conservancy is prodigious. Over 300 species of birds have been recorded in the area. Franklin and Guinea fowl are included in the birds frequently seen at the waterhole. Many pleasant hours may be spent sitting on the shady patio watching the animals and birds visit the lodge waterhole.
